We carried India's family caregivers to the Summit of the Future
In September 2024, world leaders gathered at UN Headquarters in New York for the Summit of the Future — the negotiation that produced the Pact for the Future, an agreement on what the international system owes the generations still to come. Caregivers Asha Society was there, carrying a question that rarely reaches that room: who looks after the people who look after everyone else?

An unseen workforce carrying enormous weight
Millions of families in India rely on unpaid, untrained family members to provide full-time care for elderly parents, chronically ill relatives, and people with disabilities — with no systemic support, recognition, or relief.
Caregiver burnout is a silent crisis
Without training, community, or access to guidance, family caregivers suffer physically and emotionally. Yet caregiving remains absent from national health policy, training curricula, and public discourse.
CAS believes caregiving is not a private matter. It demands systemic support — through skills, technology, community and policy.
